(01) ABOUT
Lada Merkulyeva is a soprano whose vibrant temperament and expressive artistry have firmly established her on the musical stage, placing her among the most compelling young vocalists of her generation.
Lada Merkulyeva’s voice has graced the most prestigious concert halls in Russia, including the Bolshoi, Maly, and Rachmaninoff Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, the Zaryadye Concert Hall, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonia, among others.
Her repertoire features some of the most challenging soprano roles, requiring not only flawless vocal technique but also nuanced dramatic sensibility. Among these are the Queen of the Night (Mozart's "The Magic Flute"), which she has performed to great acclaim on the stages of the Bolshoi Theatre and Moscow’s Helikon-Opera; Zerbinetta (R. Strauss’s "Ariadne auf Naxos"); and Alice Ford (Salieri's "Falstaff, or Three Jests").
Today, Lada Merkulyeva is a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia — an artist whose virtuosic technique is matched by an inner freedom and the vibrant emotionality of modern stage performance.
In 2025, Lada Merkulyeva was a finalist in the "Bolshaya Opera" (Great Opera) television project on the Russia-Culture channel, where she won the recognition of both the public and professionals for the brilliance and sincerity of her performances.
Her artistic journey began with the piano, which she studied at the South Ural State Institute of Arts, graduating in 2017. Choosing to pursue an operatic career, she continued her training at the Academic Music College of the Moscow Conservatory and subsequently at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in the class of the renowned Russian soprano, People’s Artist of Russia, and professor, Khibla Gerzmava.
While still a student, she was an active participant in the concert life of the Conservatory and its opera studio, where she performed such demanding roles as Violetta in Verdi’s "La Traviata".
